Dave also shared a great memory that stands out while working in this field. “I always remember our first event of when our service “officially” started. My brother and I purchased used speakers and equipment from a retired member of a polka band. Yes, it was a polka band and WOW was that equipment old! Prior to purchasing the speakers, I had multiple components from several home stereos hooked up to an entry level DJ mixer where I practiced for years. I had been acquiring music for many years prior to this event (thank you BMG and Columbia house!) and purchased all the latest hits from a music store where I worked part-time (anyone remember CD singles?) Our first real event occurred at a town hall in September of 1993. Our next door neighbor was hosting a ‘Sweet 16’ birthday party. Everyone danced the entire night and I was immediately hooked! I was amazed how great music presented the right way could transform a party! Though our events today are much larger and definitely grander, I will still always remember how our successful business had started and especially the birthday party that served as the catalyst to my career and passion for formal DJing.”
