Each year The Knot hosts a Market Mixer in the city of Pittsburgh to recognize and celebrate the city’s finest wedding professionals. This year Epic Event Planning by Jessica & Kourtney had the great honor of being chosen to design and coordinate this entire event.
The Market Mixer was held on June 25th at the Mattress Factory – Museum of Contemporary Art located in Pittsburgh’s North Side. The inspiration for the event was POP ART with many Warhol inspired accents. The main lobby of the Mattress Factory was glowing with illuminated furniture pieces and large, red Chinese lanterns suspended from the ceiling as well as polka-dot lighting covering white brick walls.
Each cocktail table was decorated with modern floral centerpieces adorned with a specialized logo emulating the famous Warhol soup can design.
Giving the room the loveliest decoration were the live models displaying bridal fashions reminiscent of the 1950’s era. In addition to hairstyles of that era, the vibrant color palette chosen for each models’ makeup was designed to add splashes of pop art color to complete their look.
The theme was visible in every last detail of the evening including the event programs, menus, and signage .
Guests delighted in amazing vegetarian and non-vegetarian hors d’ oeuvres of grilled tomato and artichoke crostini with toasted pine nuts and steak ribbons with a bourbon dipping sauce to name several. A hydration station, neon signature cocktails, local brewed beer, and wine provided delicious refreshment for all.
Those guests whose favorite part of the meal is dessert were not forgotten. A delectable table displaying mini cupcakes, mini trifles, cake pops, cookies, and chocolate covered pretzels of every variety was included. The sweet treats did not end there, a rainbow candy buffet kept guests returning to the café for a sugar rush.
The wonderful Disc Jockey and Master of Ceremonies kept the entertainment vibe alive with great music and commentary. Professional ballroom dancers performed and mingled with guests encouraging them to gather on the dance floor. When guests were not eating, drinking, or dancing, they were able to head to the photo booth to take some memorable pictures using a variety of funky props. One of the most innovative aspects of the evening was the live artist capturing the essence of the event in his painting.
Toward the conclusion of the mixer guests had the opportunity of winning specialty giveaway items such as: restaurant gift baskets, handmade jewelry, and art pieces.

The evening was an absolute success and was made possible by the true teamwork of our EEP Team and fantastic vendors. The creativity and thought dedicated to the event was apparent from the moment guests entered the door. Guests, popped in, mixed it up, and had a blast. EEP, yet again, plans “an event that will make history!”
